ENGLISH
Carlos Leon-Xjimenez works as an artist, independent curator in contemporary art, and researcher.
After a degree in Anthropology by the Catholic University of Peru in Lima and a postgraduate research-based international program on Transnational Urbanism at the Bauhaus-Dessau Foundation (Germany) got a Master in Fine Arts (with focus on Public Art) by the Bauhaus University in Weimar (Germany) where he is Urban Heritage PhD researcher at the Institute for European Urbanism in the same university.
Lives and works in Berlin and Lima.
His projects link topics of public spaces, urbanism, gender, cultural heritage, contemporary urban cultures and politics.
Lately is focused in the sociocultural surroundings of the ruin as metaphor for transformation, decay, renaturalization, spatial configuration, social production, and critical perspectives on the so called “cultural heritage” in a wide sense. Therefore material and immaterial culture are matters of analysis and reinterpretation either elastic and/or spasmodic.
CASTELLANO
